Jonathan Laurence is associate professor of Political Science at Boston College and nonresident senior fellow in Foreign Policy studies at the Brookings Institution (Washington, DC). He is also an affiliate of the Center for European Studies at Harvard University, where he received his Ph.D. in 2006. During 2015, he is part of an international team of scholars based at FAFO (Oslo) examining the governance of religion in Europe. In summer 2015 he will be a visiting fellow at CERI-Sciences Po (Paris).

His essays, articles and commentary on international affairs regularly appear in US and European periodicals and news media, and he is frequently invited to speak in international academic and policy settings.

Laurence is author of the award-winning The Emancipation of Europe’s Muslims (Princeton, 2012) and of the highly praised Integrating Islam (with Justin Vaïsse, Brookings, 2006).
